Cold, Cars, and Ghetto Trains

Not only is it cold this morning, which I hate, but my car decided it wasn’t going to start for me this morning. Now I am stuck without a car having to rely on people to come and get me, but I am hoping Jerry will fix my car by then. So I am not in a very good mood this morning.

I finally put together Lee’s scrapbook, I have pictures from pregnancy all the way till now. I have been procrastinating with that project, but on Sunday I got sick of looking at the big stack of pictures sitting in my closet, so I started putting pictures in the book through out the day yesterday and finished it last night before I put Lee to bed. Woohoo for me! Now all I have to do is remember to add new pictures to it.

Speaking of pictures, I took Lee to the Lawrenceville festival thing on Saturday. They had a bunch of booths there and were selling everything from hand made jewelry to pictures and flowers. They even had the humane society out there donating money and gymnastics and martial arts people promoting their businesses.

Lee had a good time, he strolled in his stroller for a little while then I let him down so he could run around and play. On one side they had a kid’s area with moon walks and games (Lee was a little young for that) but then I saw a little train that kids could get on and the guy would ride you around. So of course I thought it would be a good idea to ride it with him b/c Lee loves stuff like that. As we got on, legs cramped and all, I started to notice how ghetto this train was. Basically all the train was was a lawn mower they dressed up and added some wooden seats to drag along.

As everyone was seated the guy started to drive up the hill and as he was driving I noticed that the “train” was jerking up the hill, when we got to the top it broke down. So he gets off his seat and starts messing with the engine, after 5-7 minutes pass he gets the thing to start again and we go on our way. We then pull into this parking lot where he goes around and it broke down once again. The guy then gets off and messes with the engine again, not to mention cussing while he is doing this. Now, there are a load of kids on this thing and you can imagine how it would be if all of them had to sit for another 7-10 minutes in the uncomfortable seats. The little boy in front of me kept me entertained though; he was sitting with his sister and was trying to escape, trying to unhook the little rope that strapped them in and touching everything he could while his sister yelled at him. Through all this Lee was very good, he just sat there and honked the little horn they had attached to the seats, I was very surprised.

The engine finally started up and he finished driving us around, I was so damn glad to get off that thing. And the funny thing about it is when we got off he put another load of kids on. I guess making $2 a person is worth fighting with an engine that doesn’t work.
